Martyrdom of Imam Ali - Amir al-Mu'minin (PBUH) : Have you had once in a lifetime opportunity?

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Have you had once in a lifetime opportunity?

Blessing and Opportunities are like a beautiful bird sitting by our window. The certainly can fly away in a blink of an eye. When faced with opportunities to do something good, such as nurturing ourselves, or an outlet to voice justice and are equipped to do so via our energy level, capabilities, or means, we must immediately make use of this opportunity. Forsaking such a blessing would be to not appreciate it, and thus losing it before we know it.

Amir al-Mu'menin (PBUH) says:  One who finds a fresh spring to drink but takes a opportunity for granted, he might get thirsty shortly after and he will not find that again!1

Regrets towards the end of life for what is lost or loss of time are among the typical missed opportunities. These are often very bitter. So how do we prevent such regrets? Its pretty simple: We have to be proactive in taking steps which leads to such scenarios and they ALL start with appreciating the blessings, opportunities and situations we are in!!

For as long as we are alive, we have to make the best out of our time and prepare for the longest trip of our life in hereafter. If you are young, have energy, capability and means to do good, this is your time - and everyone, one way or another has an opportunity to do good and to grow. We need to make sure we take any opportunity serious and not be the one missing “the spring”!

Amir al-M'menin , Imam Ali (PBUH) says in another narration: Opportunities are like clouds; so whenever there is room to do good, take it up immediately or you will be regretting it (soon)2

Among the best opportunities are nights of Power (Qadr) in the holy month of Ramadhan as the value of these nights are more than 1000 month and thus prayers in these night are simply priceless. Let's make the best of the remaining time we have in this holy month!
